The property was constructed around 1865 and is located at No. 2 George’s Lane and No. 255-257 Main Street. It is bounded by other residential structures directly adjacent to the East and South of the building. The property is currently four storeys tall including commercial space at groundfloor level and three levels of residential dwellings above. The property incorporates a central lightwell with an internal patio area at the ground floor level.
The existing construction consists of random rubble walls and concrete floors reinforced with mesh reinforcement in the bottom and timber floors for the upper levels. Alterations carried out over the years have been done using steelwork columns and beams.
The proposed 2 storey extension will be set back from the main façade and constructed using a lightweight steel frame with light gauge steel floor and walls.
